Fundamentals of Instructor Training– Successful completion of this course is required for all instructor candidates, this course provides basic information about the teaching and learning process and orients participants to Red Cross history and policies. Fundamentals of Instructor Training (FIT) covers the role of the instructor, evaluation process and administration of Red Cross courses.

  • Length of course: 6 hours
  • Cost: $40.00

Babysitter Instructor Training— Prepares participants to teach the Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Course, including basic child care, rescue breathing and quick response to emergency situations.

  • Ideal for: Anyone with the following qualifications: Infant, Child, and Adult CPR or Infant & Child CPR, Instructor Candidate Training, Successful completion of pre-course screening, experience working with youth.
  • Length of course: 12 hours
  • Cost: $80.00

Babysitter’s Instructor Training Crossover— (Designed for Teachers, American Heart Association Instructors, YMCA/YWCA Certified Trainers, Girl Scout Trainers, and RNs with a background in education) Learn to train youth ages 11-15 in first aid, choking,child safety, and supervision of children in all aspects of care.

  • Length of course: 10 hours
  • Cost: $50.00

First Aid/CPR/AED Program Instructor (*meets more than the 3 days listed)— Prepares the instructor candidate to teach any combination of Adult, Infant and Child CPR, First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillation skills.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: This class meets more than the 3 days listed on the schedule. For information on the additional days, call 410-624-2060.

  • Ideal for: Prerequisite: Successful completion of Fundamentals of Instructor Training.
    Certificates issued upon successful completion: Workplace Training: First Aid/CPR AED Instructor.
    Instructor Candidates must:
    Be 17 years of age or older
    Have successfully completed Fundamentals of Instructor Training
    Successfully demonstrate the pre-course screening of lifesaving skills (these skills will be taught to students during the first phase of the instructor course)

Workplace Standard First Aid Instructor Training— SPECIAL NOTE:This class meets for 5 days -Please call 410-624-2060 for dates and times. Includes basic level Adult CPR and First Aid with Automated External Defibrillator course. Prepares participant to teach Adult CPR, Standard First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator.
– On-site training can be arranged for your group of 8 or more, by calling 410-624-2074. Prices may vary.

  • Cost: $140.00

Instructor Qualifications
To ensure the quality of instruction and delivery of services, the American Red Cross requires that instructors be affiliated with an Authorized Provider of Red Cross instructional programs. Call 410-624-2060 for application information.To qualify as an instructor candidate for American Red Cross programs, you must:

  1. Be at least 17 years old
  2. Not plan to sell Red Cross training services to organizations
  3. List your sponsoring organization and contact person on your instructor application. You must be an employee of or registered volunteer with the organization you plan to teach
  4. Meet the Instructor course prerequisites.

Prerequisites: 1. Community First Aid and Safety; 2. Instructor Candidate Training; 3. Successful completion of the pre-course screening (included in the first session of instructor course).
