6/19/2012 - Carroll Co Resident Receives Red Cross' Highest Honor
  Baltimore--- Westminster resident Caroline Babylon was the recipient of The 2012 Clara Barton Award, the local American Red Cross’ highest volunteer honor. The award was presented tonight during the 107th Annual Meeting of the American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region.

6/15/2012 - Red Cross in Dire Need of Spanish Speaking Volunteers to Help Disaster Victims
The Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region is in dire need of Spanish speaking volunteers to help during times of disasters. The Red Cross provides relief to any person in need but often language differences can be a barrier in getting the specific kind of help our clients request to them as quickly as possible. American Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers provide emergency relief such as food, clothing and shelter nearly 3 times every day when disasters strike

5/25/2012 - Red Cross Assists Hagerstown Families After Duplex Fire
(Baltimore)-- A two-alarm fire destroyed a duplex on Cannon Avenue in Hagerstown Wednesday morning. Red Cross volunteers were there immediately to provide shelter, clothing and food to those in need after the blaze. One of the homes had cats that are adored by the family, so the Red Cross also made an extra effort to find accommodations that would keep the pets and their owners together and comfortable during what was already a difficult time. 5/14/2012 - Residents Forced From Meadows East Complex After Fire
Baltimore-- A fire overtook the Meadows East apartment complex on the 600 block of N Street in Mt. Lake Park, Maryland on Friday afternoon. The Red Cross was on the scene to provide immediate disaster relief to 35 adults who were affected by the fire-- several of whom are elderly or have disabilities.

4/5/2012 - Red Cross Helps Lusby Family After Home Fire
Baltimore-- American Red Cross workers were on the scene last night offering help to a family after a fire destroyed their home on the 130 block of Cove Point in Lusby. The Red Cross provided the residents with emergency shelter and financial assistance to replace burned clothing, food and other essential needs.  Red Cross caseworkers will continue to assist the family until all of their immediate needs have been met.

The Red Cross thinks jewelry and wine might do the trick for at least one giving segment. Tomorrow night J. Brown Jewelers showroom in Pikesville is hosting a ladies only and invitation only, celebration of the Red Cross Tiffany Circle Society of Women Leaders. From 5:30pm to 7:30pm the store will offer a sneak peek at their spring collection as well as offer wine tastings and pairings with WBAL radio’s Laurie Forster, host of the Sipping Point.

2/27/2012 - Red Cross Responding to Pair of Local Apt Firs
The American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region is helping families at two apartment fires, one at 701 Morningside Drive in Towson and the other at 809 de Franceaux Harbor in Pasadena, Maryland. Volunteers at the scene are providing food, clothing and shelter to displaced residents of the multi-family dwellings.

American Red Cross workers were on the scene early this morning offering help to a family after a fire damaged their home on the 800 block of Patterson Avenue in Cumberland. The Red Cross provided the residents with emergency shelter, food and clean-up assistance.  Red Cross caseworkers will continue to assist the family until all of their immediate needs have been met.

2/9/2012 - Red Cross Helps Great Mills Family After Deadly Fire
American Red Cross volunteers from St. Mary’s County have been on the scene offering help this morning to survivors of a deadly fire on the 45000 block of Foxchase Drive in Great Mills. The Red Cross provided emergency shelter to two persons living in one of the units that was affected.  Red Cross caseworkers will continue to assist everyone involved until all of their immediate needs have been met.

1/31/2012 - Red Cross Helping 3 Families After Fire in City
(Baltimore)-- American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region workers are on the scene tonight  offering help to three families affected by a fire on the 1600 block of Sheffield Road in Baltimore. The Red Cross is determining the needs of those affected at this time and but typically offers assistance ranging from emergency shelter and financial assistance to replace food, clothing and other necessities. 1/20/2012 - Red Cross Helping Cumberland Families After Fatal Fire
(Baltimore)-- American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region workers have been on the scene today offering help to the survivors of a deadly home fire in Cumberland on the 300 block of East Harrison Street that affected three units.  The Red Cross is providing shelter and financial assistance to the families who are in need to replace food, clothing and other necessities. Trained Red Cross disaster mental health workers are also on hand to provide emotional support and caseworkers will continue to assist everyone involved until all of their immediate needs have been met.

1/18/2012 - Red Cross Announces Program Manager for Garrett, Allegany and Mineral Counties
 

Baltimore, MD— The American Red Cross welcomes Angela Frye to the staff of the American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region. Frye has been hired as the Emergency Services Program Manager for Alleghany and Garrett Counties in Maryland and Mineral County in West Virginia. Since her appointment, Frye has already been on the scene of multiple local home fires to manage the volunteer response and provide assistance to families displaced by disaster.

Granted, it’s not the Rolling Stones but a troupe of skilled high school students from the Baltimore School For the Arts, the Red Cross Players, are bringing a message of disaster preparedness to middle and elementary schools in Baltimore City. The “Gimme Shelter performance is laced with a combination of dark comedy, thoughtful instruction, silliness and drama to bring home the message that disasters do happen where we live.
